I have an Osprey Escapist 25 which is the wrong size for me (makes my back hurt a lot) so I'm looking to replace it. I'm torn between Talon 22 and Talon 33 (I'm a loyal Osprey fan who owns 4 osprey bags, lol).

I usually do day hikes so no tent / sleeping bag / mattress. Basically some snacks, food, stove, gas canister, some pot to boil water and maybe a fleece for colder days. Of course 3 liters of water.

I hiked with the Escapist 25 yesterday and it did run pretty stuffed. On one hand Talon 22 is more suited for day hike, on the other hand Talon 33 gives me some extra space should I need it (like adding a fleece or another layer on colder days). I'd get both if I could, but I need to decide.

I got this pack as a Christmas gift and have given it moderate usage since then. I've done at least one day hike a week and a few weekend hikes with the pack. It packs easily for these light loads. The only complaint I would have is that it can be difficult to adjust at first, granted this was my first serious hiking pack so I guess there is a learning curve

After a little bit of time fidgeting with it I was able to find how it best adjusted to my fit and it has been quite comfortable ever since. If you're going to be doing light hikes definitely look into this pack

Good for day hikes and light weekender hikes

 it is just one open pocket so you can really throw a lot of items in there and get to them quickly and easily. You've also got a really neat separate compartment similar to backpacking bags that have a sleeping bag compartment. This bag has a lower pocket as well, so at the base you've got kind of a u-shaped zipper and that will allow you to get to this lower compartment. You can store some wet clothes there if you need to some extra accessory gear, but it's just a great place to have that separated organization

 There's that velcro there. You just got to break that fully, slide it up or down depending on your torso length to make your adjustment to get that proper fit. You do have some straps up here to enhance that load stability as well, and you can include a hydration reservoir with this pack right behind that back panel. There's a external sleeve where you can put that hydration reservoir in and the clip at the top to lock that down and you just route the hose throughout the shoulder strap

 We've got the stretch mesh pocket here and behind that we have another organizer pocket, so it's pretty tough to weigh here. Low profile pocket, but it's got some organizational features. There's some elastic bands in the middle that to me would be great for a bike pump if you're cycling, we've got some mesh pockets there and just some low profile storage options with the pack there on the front. We've got our lid lock helmet attachment, so if you've got a ventilated bike helmet, you can easily attach that to the front of the pack

 There's no framing in the pack, it's just this kind of a sheet back panel with that molded foam over the top, so it is very flexible and it's going to move with the user. so that's a really nice feature for the lightweight day hikes, the cycling, and the commuting. Frankly, because it moves with you while you're on the go. The harness is a perforated EBA foam so you've got really comfortable soft EBA throughout with soft mesh padding all throughout the harness so it's going to sit on the shoulders comfortably

What's nice is that these parts up here are wide so it doesn't It doesn't cause any problems where your head joint your necklace so you don't get any rubbing there. Also I Found once I Went cycling with a hiking backpack and it extended up here

 This backpack. you can pull it really closely to your body so it doesn't move around. doesn't bump or draw anything like that. The padding on the backpack as you can see so soft is comfortable

 Here it goes down pretty far right to about here. Okay, then we've got the main compartment. So at the moment I've got a cushion in a pump and our take that out main compartments. pretty reasonable sizes

 here. it's a little stash pocket as can be used for your mobile phone, sunglasses, or wallet. whatever it might be this material is. It's not so abrasive so it's good for mobile screens for potentially sunglasses

 Okay, thanks very much and it's a look-in sake. Okay, so this is the Osprey 25 litre escapist rucksack and in my opinion, you probably wouldn't want to be carrying much more than 25 litres on your bank. size-wise roughly weight wise for me when I go and do some of my big rides over a period of days, this weighs around about seven point five to seven point eight kilograms and it's fully loaded. Along with this and the back load of the ADI use and the bike is enough

 It doesn't make you sweat ye at all. You can adjust obviously the limb for the body by these straps. Here you've got a chest strap you can adjust, you've got a waist strap you can adjust and once it's on, it's very comfortable. You've got another pocket here of course that you can put some coins in, and obviously you can hang some carabiners off or have your bladder down the opposite side

 There does up and just separates the two compartment and so I tend to put a little bit of my weather gear and stuff in here or carrier. Can we renew as well? At the bottom here you've got your cover which is ideal that covers the whole bag. that's been brilliant and then of course we've got our hook there which we can put a light enough we want and what you'll find as well with this is that you've got this kind of air tech sort of system here where the air goes What they through this. it's very, very comfortable, very light

 3L reservoir fits in the sleeve outside of the pockets, little strap pockets are great for easily accessible items and the straps both chest and waist make for unmatched stability and comfort while bike commuting. I love this backpack,can't say enough good things about it.

Outstanding backpack for cycling and for hiking

The real test will be the quality and durability of the zips - lots of them  - no problems so  far after several  months' use.

Got this in the black, well constructed as expected with Patagonia. Only reason I gave it a 4 stars. Is the black on the model is none of the colors as advertised for sale It's straight black or blue as not shown on body. Great bag though, many trips could be had with this backpack
